1. X-Men ’97- Season 2 (Animated Series)

The X-Men are scattered across three wildly different time periods, Ancient Egypt, the present, and the far future of 3960 A.D. while Apocalypse tightens his grip back home. Currently holding a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s darker and more ambitious than Season 1. New episodes drop every Wednesday, so there’s no better time to start than now.
Best for- Marvel fans, animation fans, and honestly anyone who wants the best thing on TV this week.
2. Paddington in Peru (Family/Adventure)
The third Paddington film is warm, funny, and completely irresistible, and it just landed on Disney+. When Aunt Lucy goes missing in Peru, Paddington and the Brown family embark on an Amazonian adventure to find her. Directed by Dougal Wilson and starring Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Antonio Banderas, and Olivia Colman, it’s exactly the kind of film the whole family can genuinely enjoy together.
Best for- family movie night, and honestly anyone who needs something joyful right now.
3. Avatar: Fire and Ash (Sci-Fi /Epic)
James Cameron’s third Pandora chapter, which grossed nearly $1.5 billion at the box office, is now streaming. Jake Sully and his family face their most devastating threat yet when the Ash People, a fierce clan blaming Eywa for the destruction of their homeland, launch an attack. A visual spectacle unlike anything else in cinema, and a massive step up from The Way of Water according to most critics.
Best for- Avatar fans, and anyone who wants a big, immersive blockbuster watch.
4. Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere (Music Biopic)
One of the more quietly compelling films of 2025 is now streaming on Disney+. Jeremy Allen White plays Bruce Springsteen in Scott Cooper’s intimate biopic about the making of Nebraska, the stripped-down 1982 album recorded on a home cassette recorder that became one of rock’s most enduring masterpieces. White’s performance has drawn widespread praise even from critics divided on the film itself, and it captures something rare about the relationship between an artist and their most private work.
Best for- music fans, Springsteen devotees, and anyone who loved Bohemian Rhapsody or A Complete Unknown.
5. Descendants: Wicked Wonderland (Musical Fantasy)
The fifth Descendants film drops this Friday. Red and Chloe thought they’d fixed everything, but changing the past created a new villain: Maddox Hatter, who’s kidnapped the Queen of Hearts. The duo must assemble an all-new team including Red’s new sister Pink, Luisa Madrigal’s son Luis, and Captain Hook’s daughter Hazel to save Wonderland. Awkwafina joins the franchise as Chessy the Cat.
Best for- Descendants fans and families with tweens.
6. The Devil Wears Prada 2 (Comedy/Drama)
Mark July 29 in your calendar. Twenty years after Andy Sachs quit Runway, she’s back as features editor, only to find Miranda Priestly under threat from Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), now a Dior executive controlling the advertising budget the magazine desperately needs. The whole original team returns: Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. Grossed over $680 million at the box office against a $100 million budget.
Best for- fans of the original, fashion lovers, and anyone who wants a sharp, witty drama with an extraordinary cast.
7. Pompeii: Tom Hiddleston Rewinds Time (Documentary Series)
Tom Hiddleston hosts this National Geographic docudrama about one of history’s most famous and destructive volcanic eruptions, and he does it with more than a few playful nods to his Loki character. Landing on Disney+ on July 23, it’s been described as brilliantly hosted and genuinely gripping.
Best for- history buffs, National Geographic fans, and anyone who wants something smart and visually spectacular.
8. Iron Man + Iron Man 2 (Action/Marvel)
Both films arrived on Disney+ this month, making it the perfect time for an MCU double bill. The first film remains one of the best superhero origin stories ever made, Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark is as magnetic as ever. The sequel is messier but funnier, with Sam Rockwell’s Justin Hammer being one of the MCU’s most underrated performances and Mickey Rourke bringing genuine menace as Ivan Vanko. Watch them back to back.
Best for- MCU fans doing a full rewatch, and newcomers who want to understand where it all began.
9. Dirty Dancing (Romance/Dance)
A summer classic that never gets old. Baby (Jennifer Grey) is spending the summer at a Catskills resort with her family when she stumbles into the world of the resort’s charismatic dance instructor Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze), and falls hard for both the dancing and the man. The chemistry between Grey and Swayze is electric, the soundtrack is iconic, and nobody puts Baby in a corner.
Best for- a feel-good weekend watch, a first date night in, or anyone who just needs something genuinely fun and romantic.
10. Tron: Ares (Sci-Fi/Action)
The long-awaited third Tron film is worth a watch if you haven’t caught it yet. Jared Leto plays Ares, a highly sophisticated AI program sent from the digital Grid into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humanity’s first encounter with an AI in the flesh. Jeff Bridges returns as Kevin Flynn, Greta Lee plays the CEO of ENCOM, and the Nine Inch Nails score is genuinely outstanding. Critics were divided on the story, but the visuals and sound design are spectacular, best experienced on the biggest screen you have.
Best for- Tron fans, sci-fi enthusiasts, and anyone who wants a visually stunning watch with a great soundtrack.
