IT: Welcome to Derry Drops Mid-Season Trailer- And Yes, Pennywise Is Back to Haunt Derry

Horror fans, get ready. The clown is returning. The official mid-season trailer for IT: Welcome to Derry has just been released, and it confirms that Pennywise is set to make his chilling return in the next chapter of the series.

Up until now, the show, an expansion of the Stephen King universe set in the town of Derry, Maine, has kept Pennywise somewhat off-screen, focusing instead on other manifestations of horror. But with four episodes down and four more to go in the debut season, the trailer makes it clear that the shapeshifting entity is back in full force.

Bill Skarsgård reprises his role as Pennywise, delivering that same unnerving mix of menace and mockery that made the character iconic. The trailer gives viewers glimpses of his return to Neibolt Street, a location steeped in Derry’s dark past, and sets the tone for what appears to be the series’ escalation of terror.

The first season of IT: Welcome to Derry is positioned as a prequel to the events of It: Chapter One, pushing the timeline back to 1962. Director Andy Muschietti has involvement in the series, and the production promises a blend of new and familiar horrors as the story explores Derry’s history of catastrophic events. The mid-season finale is scheduled for 14 December, but the trailer confirms that the next phase begins 23 November, with Pennywise returning to the stage of nightmares.

Hey, I'm Poesiha! I'm the kind of person who could spend hours lost in movies, give me popcorn, a cozy blanket, and a horror flick, and I’m in my happy place. Horror is my absolute favorite; there’s just something about the suspense, the jump scares, and the “don’t go in there!” moments that I can’t get enough of. When I’m not watching movies, I’m usually writing, scribbling down ideas, stories, or whatever random thought pops into my head. Writing is my little superpower; it’s where I get to create my own worlds instead of just watching them on screen. Honestly, movies and writing are like my two best friends: one keeps me entertained, the other lets me imagine and express.
